Greater Together Foundation

  • The Greater Together Foundation (GTF) was formed in response to the civil unrest that erupted in KwaZulu-Natal and other parts of South Africa in July 2021. Communities came to the forefront as a source of stability against lawlessness and as an essential driver of the rapid clean-up and aid efforts. There were tragic exceptions where an uncoordinated community response was harmful to social cohesion and the rule of law.

The GTF Vision is that of holistic community upliftment by engaging the only mechanism available to enact large scale change - the communities themselves…

Together, we see communities more united, more capable and more active in the promotion of change and upliftment for themselves.

  • The Educational and Development Department will look to implement projects based on solid needs analysis of the communities and to partner with existing educational entities and programmes within our communities to coordinate education based upliftment activities for a wide range of age groups.

The Humanitarian Aid Department will establish partnerships between various existing aid organisations with the main aim of coordinating efforts to reach groups and communities in need with the right aid, at the right time with the goal of facilitating humanitarian interventions into previously unaddressed areas.

The Community Safety and Security Department will unite local Community Policing Forums (CPF), work within communities, and seek to form memoranda of understanding (MOU) between CPFs and existing security companies as well as the South African Police Service to facilitate unification of effort across an area.

The Socio-Economic Business Development Department will assist local communities in partnership with skilled individuals and companies to develop intrinsic skills from within their communities and thus ensuring the longevity of the programmes implemented.

  • Our mandate is to develop a replicable model for safer and healthier communities that can be shared to drive positive change in a nation which is crying out for change.

We cannot change the past, but we can shape the future through working together.

We aim to fulfill our mandate through the employment of our 4 key departments working with communities, aid organisations and government together to achieve a unified, safe and prosperous South Africa.
